For those who prefer to follow a written tutorial then here it is! I hope you enjoy making them.
You will need;
- DK/Light worsted weight cotton yarn
- 2.5mm crochet hook
- 1 x sew in coin purse frame (which you can pick up easily from eBay) It's important to find the 'sew in' frames rather than the glue in ones for a better finish
- Yarn needle
- Sewing needle or any needle that can fit through your frame holes
- Scissors
Round 1
Work 10sc into magic circle, pull to tighten, sl st to join - (10)
Round 2
ch2, 1dc in same st as chains, 2dc in next st and in ea st around, sl st in top of 2ch to join - (20)
Round 3
1dcfps (double crochet front post stitch) around previous rounds chains below, 2dc in next st, *1dcfps around next dc post, 2dc in next st* repeat from * to * until end - (30)
Round 4
*1dcfps, 1dc in next st, 2dc in next st* repeat from * to * until end - (40)
Round 5
*1dcfps, 1dc in next 2 sts, 2dc in next st* repeat from * to * until end - (50)
Round 6
*1dcfps, 1dc in next 3 sts, 2dc in next st* repeat from * to * until you have 30 sts, so half way around your circle - (30 - half of 60) This creates a fatter bottom to your purse, the frame will be attached at the smaller part at the top. See video for clearer details.
Next...
Fasten off your first circle but on the second circle do not fasten off, instead sew your two fatter ends of your circles together, counting 30 sts and joining as you go, making sure right sides are facing outwards. Fasten off and tie in all your tails.
Using strands of your same cotton or similar coloured thread, sew your open ends to your sew in frames. To do this make sure all of your crochet is worked neatly and evenly into the crevice inside each frame side. I recommend sewing through each hole and then sewing back through the previous hole.
