For us crocheters sometimes all we need is a nice simple crochet pattern for a baby beanie right? nothing fancy or technical but a simple beginner's pattern that we can then decorate in any way we like, so here it is!
This video that I put together for you guys will show you how to make your very own simple newborn beanie in a series of 3 videos. The pattern uses just simple stitches starting with a magic circle. If you can't crochet a magic circle you can substitute the circle for your normal 4 chains, slip stitch in first stitch and then working your stitches into the ring or you can learn how to make a magic circle here: http://youtu.be/0m0952XQjbA
The pattern will show you how to increase neatly in a mathematical sequence and when to crochet your length.
It will also show you how to work out the sizing for different sized beanies with a bit of mathematcal know how.

Round 1
6sc into magic circle, pull to tighten, sl st to join - (6)
Round 2
Ch2 (count as st here and throughout), 1dc in same st as previous round sl st (below chains), 2dc in ea st around, sl st in top of 2ch to join - (12)
Round 3
Ch2, 1dc in same st as previous round sl st (below chains), 2dc in ea st around, sl st in top of 2ch to join - (24)
Round 4
Ch2, 2dc in next st, *1dc in next st, 2dc in next st* repeat from * to * until end, sl st in top of 2ch to join - (36)
Round 5
Ch2, 1dc in next st, 2dc in next st, *1dc in next 2 sts, 2dc in next st* repeat from * to * until end, sl st in top of 2ch to join - (48)
Rounds 6 - 12
Ch2, 1dc in ea st around, sl st in top of 2ch to join - (48) Fasten off on last round, tie in all tails.
